Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role for a Marine Diesel Mechanic at Svendsen's Bay Marine located in Richmond, CA. The Marine Diesel Mechanic will be responsible for independently diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines and related systems on a variety of vessels. Daily tasks include performing standard vehicle maintenance, preventive maintenance, equipment inspections, repairs, and repowers. The role involves troubleshooting engine issues, ensuring timely repairs, and supporting the team in maintaining service quality for all customers. Occasional travel may be required for training or off-site work.
Qualifications
- Knowledge and hands-on experience in Diesel Mechanics and Heavy Equipment repairs
- Expertise in Vehicle Maintenance and Equipment Maintenance practices
- Proficiency in conducting Preventive Maintenance to ensure engine and equipment longevity
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and repair complex mechanical issues
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Previous experience with marine engines or certifications from manufacturers such as Yanmar, Volvo Penta, or Cummins is highly desirable
- Ability to work on-site in Richmond, CA
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications or relevant qualifications in diesel or marine mechanics are a plus
