Sutherland Lumber Company is a privately held company with a very successful history. Established prior to 1920, the company owns and operates retail home improvement stores and other businesses in the Midwest.
We are currently seeking responsible and skilled Lumber Associates for the Lumber Department at our retail store in Harrisonville, Missouri. Candidates should have a stable work history and relevant work experience in the position applied for. Experience in the building materials industry is preferred. We are seeking both part-time and full-time candidates. This position may require a varied retail schedule, including day, evening and weekend shifts based on store needs.
Primary Responsibilities
- Greet customers and provide friendly, knowledgeable assistance in the lumber yard and building materials area.
- Help customers identify, locate, and select lumber, plywood, decking, fencing, and related building materials for their projects.
- Assist customers with loading materials into vehicles safely and accurately.
- Load and flat stack lumber and building materials safely, neatly, and accurately.
- Pull merchandise and materials for customer deliveries, ensuring orders are complete, accurate, and properly staged.
- Operate forklifts and other yard equipment in accordance with safety procedures and company guidelines.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe lumber yard displays, racks, aisles, and work areas.
- Follow all safety, loss prevention, and drug-free workplace policies.
Qualifications
- Stable work history and relevant work experience in the position applied for.
- Experience in the building materials industry is preferred.

- High standard of honesty and integrity.
- Ability to communicate clearly with customers, coworkers, and store management.

Pay: $16.00 - $19.00 per hour
