Job Purpose
The Finance & Accounting Manager reports to the Vice President of Operations and works collaboratively with ownership to advance and execute the financial goals of the company. This role is responsible for overseeing and leading the Accounting Department, implementing global budgets, meeting financial goals, and establishing best practices for budget review and reconciliation.
The Finance & Accounting Manager trains and partners with portfolio staff to ensure monthly budget reconciliation and timely adjustments as needed. This position also works closely with ownership to identify growth opportunities through financial analysis. As a member of the Senior Management Team, the Finance & Accounting Manager collaborates with senior leaders to execute company goals, initiatives, and directives established by the Vice President of Operations. In addition to the responsibilities outlined below, this role is expected to fulfill duties outlined in the Senior Management Job Description addendum.
Job Duties
Senior Management
- Implement and uphold company goals and values
- Collaborate with senior leadership and enforce company policies
- Follow and support the established chain of command
- Support and implement company standard operating procedures
- Promote and reinforce company culture
Leadership
- Execute directives from ownership and the Vice President of Operations
- Manage and oversee the Accounting Department, including receivables, payables, payment processing, bad debt, and vendor payments
- Enforce finance and accounting standard operating procedures
- Provide training to staff related to budget implementation and reconciliation
Finance
- Manage global financial operations across the company’s real estate and development portfolios
- Oversee income and expense reporting, including monthly financial reviews with ownership
- Create and present financial reports to ownership and the Senior Management Team
- Lead and facilitate quarterly financial reporting meetings
- Generate, review, and evaluate financial proformas
- Develop and analyze financial models for future projects and acquisitions
- Review and evaluate existing asset sales, including financials, returns, and budgets
- Review and evaluate property acquisitions, including financials, returns, and budgets
- Oversee cost control and value engineering efforts for new development projects
Budgets
- Produce and monitor the global company budget
- Produce and monitor portfolio-level budgets
- Manage, implement, and audit capital improvement budgets
- Conduct budget audits across all departments
Commercial CAM & Tenant Improvements
- Produce and manage CAM budgets
- Monitor and reconcile CAM budgets
- Produce and manage tenant improvement (TI) budgets
- Oversee, audit, and monitor third-party CAM budgets
Supervision & Oversight
- Provide direct supervision of the Finance and Accounting team
