Document Specialist – Temporary Support

Pay Rate: $23–$25 per hour

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Document Specialist to provide immediate, temporary support at a West Chicago affordable housing property. This role is focused on getting tenant files and recertifications up to date, so we are looking for someone who can step in quickly with minimal to no training. Strong HUD experience is required, along with excellent organization and attention to detail.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone with a background in affordable housing compliance who is comfortable working independently and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Review, update, and complete tenant files to ensure HUD compliance
- Support and complete tenant recertifications accurately and on schedule
- Identify and resolve documentation gaps or compliance issues
- Maintain well-organized, audit-ready files
- Work efficiently to help the property get fully caught up on compliance requirements
- Communicate professionally with residents as needed regarding documentation
Qualifications
- Strong working knowledge of HUD compliance and recertification processes
- Prior experience in affordable housing (HUD, Tax Credit, or similar programs)
- Ability to step into the role immediately with little to no training
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
- Comfortable managing and prioritizing a high volume of files
- Experience with Yardi is a strong plus
- Bilingual in Spanish is highly preferred and would be a significant asset
