Assistant Property Manager

Position Overview
A growing residential property management organization is seeking an organized and customer-focused Assistant Property Manager to support day-to-day operations at one or more apartment communities.
This role blends resident relations, leasing, administrative coordination, compliance support, and operational oversight. The ideal candidate enjoys working with people, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and can balance customer service with strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
Key Responsibilities
Leasing & Resident Relations
- Assist with leasing activities including property tours, application processing, lease preparation, and resident onboarding.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for current and prospective residents.
- Support resident retention efforts through responsive communication and timely follow-up.
- Help address resident concerns, maintenance requests, and general property-related questions in a professional and timely manner.
- Promote a positive living experience while ensuring community policies and procedures are followed consistently.
Property Operations
- Assist with daily operations of the property including rent collection, deposits, reporting, and administrative functions.
- Support move-in and move-out processes, unit inspections, and turnover coordination.
- Monitor curb appeal, common areas, and vacant units to help maintain overall community standards.
- Coordinate with maintenance staff and vendors to ensure work orders and repairs are completed efficiently.
- Assist with scheduling vendors, ordering supplies, and handling general office coordination.
Compliance & Administrative Support
- Maintain accurate resident files, lease documentation, and operational records.
- Support compliance efforts related to affordable housing programs and Fair Housing regulations.
- Assist with required reporting, audits, inspections, and occupancy-related processes.
- Help ensure policies, procedures, and safety standards are consistently followed.
- Support the Property Manager with reporting, budgeting support, and operational tracking.
Team & Office Support
- Act as operational support to the Property Manager and assist with day-to-day decision making in their absence.
- Help foster a professional, team-oriented environment across the property.
- Participate in ongoing training, process improvement, and operational initiatives.
Qualifications
- 1–2 years of property management, leasing, housing, or related experience preferred.
- Experience with affordable housing programs such as LIHTC, HUD, Section 8, RD, or similar programs is a plus.
- Strong customer service, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with Microsoft Office and property management software platforms such as Yardi is preferred.
- High attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
