What are the responsibilities and job description for the Server position at Sushi Yama?
We are looking for an experienced, friendly, and dependable Server to join our Thai & Sushi restaurant team. The ideal candidate has at least 1 year of restaurant serving experience, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Job Duties
- Greet guests warmly and provide excellent, attentive service.
- Take food and beverage orders accurately and enter orders into the POS system.
- Explain menu items, including Thai dishes, sushi, ingredients, and preparation methods.
- Make recommendations based on guests’ preferences and answer questions about the menu.
- Deliver food and beverages promptly and accurately.
- Check on guests throughout their meal to ensure satisfaction.
- Handle special requests, food allergies, and dietary restrictions carefully.
- Maintain clean, organized, and properly set tables and dining areas.
- Process guest payments accurately and handle cash and credit card transactions.
- Communicate effectively with kitchen staff, sushi chefs, bartenders, and other team members.
- Follow restaurant health, safety, and service standards.
- Assist with opening, closing, and other restaurant duties as needed.
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of restaurant serving experience required.
- Experience in a Thai, sushi, Asian, or full-service restaurant is a strong plus.
- Knowledge of food and beverage service and basic restaurant etiquette.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work quickly and efficiently in a busy restaurant.
- Reliable, punctual, and professional.
- Able to work well as part of a team.
- Must be comfortable standing and walking for extended periods.
- Must be available to work weekends and holidays as needed.
- Ability to accurately handle orders and payments.
- Positive attitude and willingness to help create a welcoming experience for guests.

Pay: $11.00 - $27.22 per hour
