Job Summary:
The Logistics Coordinator manages and negotiates freight rates with motor carriers and internal sales teams. This role coordinates available customer freight with carrier equipment, supports carrier relationships, and ensures performance through account metrics, while collaborating closely with the sales team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage freight from pickup to delivery
- Develop and maintain key carrier relationships
- Book loads and manage carriers for assigned regions/customers
- Develop and maintain routing guides
- Negotiate freight rates
- Support and enforce carrier compliance responsibilities
- Provide after-hours or emergency support as needed
- Learn and become proficient in the Transportation Management System (TMS)
- Apply logical and scientific principles to solve logistical and practical problems
Qualifications and Competencies:
- Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of transportation experience preferred
- Positive, growth-oriented attitude
- Strong understanding of customer/supplier relationships with a focus on delivering superior service
