Project Engineer (Injection Molding/Plastics)
Job Description
We are seeking a Project Engineer to lead new product programs from commercial handoff through transfer to production, while also providing technical support to business development efforts. This role plays a key part in ensuring successful program execution, cross-functional alignment, and customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate has a strong background in injection molding, project leadership, and medical device or regulated manufacturing environments.
Day-to-Day
- Program Leadership & Execution
- Lead new project launches from sales close through production transfer.
- Define and manage project scope, timelines, deliverables, and budgets.
- Oversee tooling design, construction, process development, validation, documentation, and training activities.
Establish and maintain schedules, delivery dates, and cost objectives; communicate progress to internal and external stakeholders.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Lead and coordinate teams across quality, tooling, operations, manufacturing engineering, supply chain, and external suppliers.
- Partner with vendors, equipment suppliers, and contractors to ensure technical and operational readiness.
Support design for manufacturability and provide engineering guidance on part and mold design, processing, and materials.
Commercial & Technical Support
- Assist the commercial team during quoting and proposal development with technical insights on tooling, processing, and equipment.
- Provide customer-facing technical support to ensure alignment between design intent and manufacturing capabilities.
Contribute to strategic business growth through technical expertise and solution-oriented communication.
Regulatory & Safety Compliance
- Ensure all safety protocols are followed and equipment safeguards remain intact.
- Support and maintain compliance with ISO 13485/9001 standards and participate in audits as needed.
Travel as required to support customer and internal initiatives.
Requirements / Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field.
- 1–5 years of experience in injection molding; medical device experience preferred.
- Strong program and project management skills with demonstrated leadership capability.
- Working knowledge of mold design, processing, and manufacturing methods.
- Experience supporting validation activities in a regulated environment.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, reports, and specifications.
- Ability to travel domestically as needed.
- Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and performing standard physical shop floor tasks (standing, climbing stairs, etc.).
Salary : $90,000 - $120,000
