Duties
- Assist with animal handling, restraint, and care to ensure safety and comfort during examinations and procedures
- Prepare animals for surgery, including cleaning, positioning, and aseptic technique application
- Administer medications, IV fluids, and injections following veterinary protocols and safety standards
- Support laboratory work such as sample collection, processing, and record keeping for diagnostic testing
- Maintain cleanliness of treatment areas, kennels, surgical suites, and equipment using proper animal husbandry practices
- Communicate effectively with pet owners regarding pet care instructions, medication schedules, and follow-up needs
- Support front desk responsibilities including client communication, appointment scheduling, and record management
Requirements
- Proven kennel experience combined with veterinary technician or assistant experience
- Hands-on veterinary critical care experience is highly desirable
- Strong animal handling skills , including dogs and cats
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology, anatomy, physiology, and animal behavior
- Experience with animal restraint techniques, catheterization, medication administration, and aseptic procedures
- Ability to perform IV insertions accurately while maintaining aseptic technique
- Familiarity with laboratory procedures and record keeping within a veterinary setting
- Excellent communication skills for client interaction and team collaboration
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while adhering to safety protocols including PPE use
