Duties
- Prepare operating rooms by sterilizing instruments, arranging supplies, and ensuring all necessary equipment is ready for surgery
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments, suturing, and managing surgical tools with precision
- Maintain aseptic technique throughout all phases of surgery to prevent infection and ensure patient safety
- Support patient care activities pre- and post-operation, including positioning patients and assisting with recovery protocols
- Adhere to infection control protocols and maintain sterile environments in accordance with hospital policies
Skills
- Extensive OR experience with a strong understanding of surgical procedures
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, vital signs monitoring, and acute care practices essential for patient safety during surgery
- Hands-on suturing skills combined with expertise in infection control practices and aseptic techniques
- Experience working in Level I or Level II trauma centers is highly desirable
- Ability to perform under pressure in fast-paced environments such as trauma or emergency surgeries
- Strong understanding of medical terminology relevant to surgical procedures and hospital medicine
- Critical thinking skills for analyzing intraoperative situations quickly and effectively
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; additional certifications such as Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) are a plus
