What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sterile Processing Tech - Full Time (37177) position at SURGICAL SPECIALTY CENTER OF BATON ROUGE LLC?
Monday - Friday 10:30am to 7pm
Purpose
The Instrument Tech provides supportive assistance to staff in the operating room by ensuring the cleaning and sterilization of surgical equipment.
General Job Functions
- Counts/inventories instrument sets as delivered to dirty work room.
- Communicates to the scrub when an instrument is missing.
- Cleans surgical instruments according to manufacturers’ guidelines.
- Perform sterilization for implants using AORN/AAMI guidelines.
- Knowledge of what instruments belong in sets.
- Properly packages decontaminated surgical instruments (sets) for sterilization.
- Reports and delivers broken equipment to OR Manager/Director.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Experience
- Two (2) years of experience in a hospital or medical environment as an instrument technician preferred.
- Must be able to follow directions and perform work according to department policy and procedures and standards independently.
Licenses and Certificates
- ANSI or AAMI certificate preferred.
