Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) for our Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). The ideal candidate will possess a strong clinical background and demonstrate exceptional patient care skills. As a PACU RN, you will be responsible for monitoring patients recovering from anesthesia, ensuring their safety and comfort, and providing necessary interventions as required. This role is critical in delivering high-quality care to patients during their recovery phase.
Responsibilities
- Monitor patients’ vital signs and level of consciousness post-anesthesia.
- Administer medications as prescribed and manage pain effectively.
- Provide airway management and support for patients with respiratory issues.
- Conduct assessments to identify any complications or adverse reactions.
- Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure smooth transitions from surgery to recovery.
- Educate patients and their families on post-operative care and recovery expectations.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient care activities and outcomes.
- Assist in the management of infectious disease care protocols as necessary.
- Support patients with disabilities by adapting care approaches to meet their needs.
Experience
Candidates should have:
- A valid RN license with experience in emergency medicine or PACU settings preferred.
- Proficiency in basic life support (BLS) techniques.
- Familiarity with pain management strategies and medication administration protocols.
- Knowledge of ICD-10 coding is a plus.
- Experience in sonography or laboratory settings is beneficial.
- Skills in airway management and working with individuals with disabilities are highly valued.
