Front Desk Assistant
GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
Greeting patients, performing check-in procedures, maintaining current demographic and insurance information in computer and in the chart, performing office opening procedures, petty cash balancing, co-pay/co-insurance collection, and assisting patients as needed. Primary focus is servicing patients in the lobby with backup for phones and other front office personnel.
1-2 years experience in healthcare background
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: ASC Director and/or Office Supervisor.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
EDUCATION: High School Diploma, with 1-2 years experience in healthcare background
KNOWLEDGE:
1. Knowledge of clinic policies and procedures.
2. Knowledge of computer systems, programs.
3. Knowledge of medical terminology.
SKILLS:
1. Must be able to multi – task.
2. Must be able to express compassion and kindness to patients calling and being seen in the
office.
3. Must maintain a professional and upbeat attitude
4. Skill in written and verbal communication and customer relations.
ABILITIES:
1. Ability to work with effectively with medical staff, Management, authorizations, external agencies and patients.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS: Requires sitting and standing associated with a normal office environment.
ENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING CONDITIONS: Normal busy office environment with much patient contact. Occasional evening work.
