Northwest Specialty Hospital is seeking a detail-oriented Medical Coder Educator to join our Coding Team!
The Coding Educator will provide training & education to the coding team and physicians. The position will develop training material on various coding topics to assist with the growth and development of the coding team. Responsible for rendering quality assurance audits on a routine basis to improve the proficiency of the coding team. Works directly with our physicians on documentation improvement and assists with new physician onboarding, answering questions, reviewing policy and coding procedures. Review and research of coding denials providing training and feedback to the team along with appeal assistance. Provides coding support as needed for uncoded backlog.
Qualifications and Preferred Experience:
- Demonstrates eligibility for employment in the United States.
- High school diploma.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and disease processes.
- Familiarity with ICD-10-CM and CPT coding systems.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in computer applications, including coding software and Microsoft Office.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to adhere to coding guidelines and regulations through Continuing Education courses.
- Advanced knowledge of coding guidelines & CMS regulations.
- COC and CIC Certification preferred.
- CPC with CPMA Certification required.
- 5 Years of coding experience required.
- 3 years of coding quality audit experience required.
