JOB TITLE: Assistant Director of Nurses (Rhode Island)
JOB SUMMARY:
The Assistant Director of Nursing is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Surgery Center in conjunction with the Facility Administrator. The management spectrum covers planning, organizing, delegating, coordinating, staffing, resource allocation, cost controls, and compliance.
EDUCATION/REQUIREMENTS:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and current state Registered Nurse License required.
- Current American Heart Assn.
- BLS and ACLS certifications also required
- GI Experience Required
- Registered Nurse with experience in procedures and the operating room, PACU, or Pre-Admission in a endoscopic or surgical setting.
- Prefer one year of management experience in ambulatory care.
- Basic computer knowledge.
AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY OF THE ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF NURSES ARE OUTLINED AS FOLLOWS:
- Assistance to physicians through provisions of adequately prepared service team members.
- Delegation of responsibilities and duties to professional, technical, and ancillary personnel.
- Assisting in the performance evaluations of all department personnel.
- Coordination of administrative duties to ensure proper functioning of the staff.
- Coordination of the provision and control of materials, supplies, and equipment with the Director of Supply.
- Coordination of activity within the Procedure Rooms.
- Other responsibilities or activities as determined by the Facility Administrator.
- Participates in all activities related to AAAHC accreditation.
- Splitting time between staffing the unit and management as needed.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to read and communicate effectively in English. Additional languages preferred.
- Demonstrated communication skills which indicate ability to be successful at counseling, teaching, and assessing.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common professional journals, nationally recognized guidelines and regulations.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, staff, physicians, and regulatory agencies.
- Ability to effectively present information to staff, management and physicians.
- Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical
problems. - Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, medical notes,
etc.) in its most difficult phases. - Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
