JOB TITLE: Assistant Director of Nurses (Rhode Island) 

JOB SUMMARY:

The Assistant Director of Nursing is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Surgery Center in conjunction with the Facility Administrator. The management spectrum covers planning, organizing, delegating, coordinating, staffing, resource allocation, cost controls, and compliance. 

EDUCATION/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and current state Registered Nurse License required.
  • Current American Heart Assn.
  • BLS and ACLS certifications also required
  • GI Experience Required
  • Registered Nurse with experience in procedures and the operating room, PACU, or Pre-Admission in a endoscopic or surgical setting.
  • Prefer one year of management experience in ambulatory care.
  • Basic computer knowledge.

AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY OF THE ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF NURSES ARE OUTLINED AS FOLLOWS:

  • Assistance to physicians through provisions of adequately prepared service team members.
  • Delegation of responsibilities and duties to professional, technical, and ancillary personnel.
  • Assisting in the performance evaluations of all department personnel.
  • Coordination of administrative duties to ensure proper functioning of the staff.
  • Coordination of the provision and control of materials, supplies, and equipment with the Director of Supply.
  • Coordination of activity within the Procedure Rooms.
  • Other responsibilities or activities as determined by the Facility Administrator.
  • Participates in all activities related to AAAHC accreditation.
  • Splitting time between staffing the unit and management as needed.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to read and communicate effectively in English. Additional languages preferred.
  • Demonstrated communication skills which indicate ability to be successful at counseling, teaching, and assessing.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common professional journals, nationally recognized guidelines and regulations.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, staff, physicians, and regulatory agencies.
  • Ability to effectively present information to staff, management and physicians.
  • Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical
    problems.
  • Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, medical notes,
    etc.) in its most difficult phases.
  • Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
