What are the responsibilities and job description for the Attendant position at SURGERY CENTER JV?
Responsibilities: Maintains established standards of care, policies, goals, and objectives in assisting the professional nursing staff to care for the patients presented to The Surgery Center of Huntsville.
Qualifications: Preferably experience in an operating room setting.
Physical Demands: Must be flexible in hours worked; must be able to endure long periods of standing or sitting and walking; may require bending and stooping, lifting and transporting of patients. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity; must be able to distinguish letters or symbols with normal vision range. May be exposed to communicable diseases and/or exposed to minimal amounts of radiation. Work area is well lighted and well ventilated; contact with staff and patients required.
Material and Equipment Used: Must be accomplished in the use of all equipment and materials required for in assisting the nursing staff in assigned duties for positioning and transferring from stretcher to OR tables, and environmental preparation of the OR suite.
Duties: 1. Moving of equipment to OR suites.
2. Retrieving supplies as requested.
3. In between cases, any housekeeping duties, trash removal, mopping floors, suction waste removal.
4. Assisting positioning of patients under direct supervision of the RN or physician.
5. Assists in transport of patients to PACU from Special Procedures.
6. Linen hamper exchange.
7. Scrub suit stocking.
8. Stocking of mask, caps, shoe covers, and scrub brushes.
9. Clean out sinks for removal of brushes.
10. Empty trash bags.
11. Stock blanket warmer.
12. Fosters appropriate public relations with patients, families and visitors who visit The Surgery Center of Huntsville. Promotes relationships with all areas in The Center by cooperating with their policies and procedures. Supports and implements the philosophy and objectives of The Surgery Center of Huntsville.
13. Assumes responsibility for promoting a safe and clean work environment by:
a) reporting equipment malfunction, maintenance needs, and supply requests to Clinical Coordinator;
b) having knowledge of fire safety, evacuation, disaster plans, and OSHA regulations as they relate to work;
c) implementing appropriate safety precautions;
d) recognizing emergency situations and instituting established procedures for specific situations.
14. Support staff development program and participation.
15. Accepts the responsibility for making suggestions and sharing knowledge to promote efficient working conditions and quality patient care.
16. Works productively to promote team efforts in cost awareness and containment, supply conservation, protecting of physical property, equipment, re-supply and stock area to maintain a state of readiness.
17. Remains flexible with all duties and able to move to any area or department and perform duties as assigned within the educational and work experience limitations.
