What are the responsibilities and job description for the HIM Manager position at Surgeons Choice Medical Center?
Role/Position Definition: The Manager of HIIM is responsible for managing the Health Informatics and Health Information Management Departments’ daily operations of coding, assembly & analysis, forms management, transcription, ROI, clinical documentation improvement activities and process improvement initiatives. Responsible for the design and workflow analysis required with electronic data exchanges to meet regulatory requirements. Provide support to HIIM departments at the facility level for department operations, reimbursement opportunities, regulatory compliance, application support and HIIM specific system installations.
Qualifications/Position Requirements:
A. Education/Experience
1. Current certification (listed below) is required and bachelor’s degree or higher in HIM is required.
2. Minimum five (5) years of HIM supervisor and/or managerial level experience required
3. Preferred experience in acute care hospital setting.
4. Preferred knowledge of information systems and healthcare applications in addition to database applications and report writing software.
5. Strong experience in Medical Coding for an inpatient surgical facility with the ability to use coding systems to properly classify diagnosis and procedure. Must have the ability to be the point person for the organization on Medical Coding.
6. Preferred experience with multiple clinical information systems (Cerner) and system interface
B. Licensure/Certification (one or more of the following)
1. Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)
2. Registered Health Information Technologist (RHIT)
3. Certified Professional in Health Information Technology (CPHIT)
4. Certified Professional in Electronic Health Records (CPEHR)
5. Certified Professional in Health Information Exchange (CPHIE)
