Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Shipping & Material Handling Associate to support the movement, preparation, and shipment of semi-finished and finished parts. This role is responsible for handling materials throughout the facility, preparing shipments for customers and outside processors, staging parts for testing or certification, and ensuring all documentation and packaging meet company and customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Material Handling & Transfers
· Load, unload, and move bar stock, semi-finished parts, finished parts, and scrap materials using hand trucks, forklifts, overhead cranes, carts, or manual handling.
· Transfer work-in-process and finished goods between production departments and the shipping area based on work order routers, LD tags, material request forms, relocation forms, or verbal instructions.
· Maintain accurate counts, weights, and measurements of items to verify against bills of lading, invoices, orders, packing slips, and other records.
Shipping & Receiving
· Prepare outgoing shipments by selecting proper containers, assembling packaging, and inserting items using spacers, fillers, VOC bags, and protective padding as needed.
· Determine best shipping method in accordance with company procedures and customer requirements.
· Provide information needed for shipment paperwork and accompanying documents.
· Affix shipping labels and apply identifying information, stamping, or markings onto cartons, crates, or containers.
· Secure shipments through palletizing, shrink-wrap, metal strapping, tape, or staples.
· Examine outgoing shipments to ensure accuracy and compliance with customer specifications.
· Unpack and inspect incoming shipments, note damaged items, and notify appropriate personnel.
Qualifications:
· Previous experience in shipping, receiving, warehouse, or material handling preferred.
· Ability to operate forklifts, overhead cranes, hand trucks, and related equipment (certification preferred or company will certify).
· Strong attention to detail and accuracy in counting and documenting materials.
· Ability to read and interpret work orders, shipping documents, and basic production paperwork.
· Ability to lift, move, and handle materials safely.
· Good communication skills and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
