SUMMARY
The Corporate Account Manager in Logistics and Automotive is responsible for the profitable and efficient management of client accounts supporting automotive manufacturing, suppliers, and logistics operations. This includes ensuring operational excellence across transportation, warehousing, and supply chain activities while strengthening client relationships to achieve service, revenue, and profitability goals.
The Account Manager serves as the primary liaison between automotive and logistics clients and internal operations, ensuring all inbound and outbound transportation, warehousing, sequencing, and distribution activities align with customer production requirements and company objectives.
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS
- Drive profitability by managing existing accounts and identifying new business opportunities within automotive logistics, transportation, and supply chain services.
- Develop and execute client-specific automotive logistics strategies to support just-in-time (JIT), just-in-sequence (JIS), and production-driven supply chain requirements.
- Ensure operational, safety, and quality standards are met across all automotive logistics activities, from supplier pickups to plant delivery and aftermarket distribution.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage day-to-day client relationships, serving as the primary point of contact for all automotive and logistics-related needs and escalations.
- Develop and implement strategic account plans focused on automotive logistics performance, cost containment, production support, and continuous improvement.
- Coordinate with internal teams (transportation, warehousing, operations, customer service, and engineering) to ensure timely and accurate execution of automotive logistics solutions.
- Monitor and analyze account performance metrics such as on-time plant delivery, freight cost per mile or unit, dock-to-dock cycle time, and service quality; provide data-driven improvement recommendations.
- Lead quarterly business reviews (QBRs) with automotive and logistics clients, presenting performance results, KPIs, and process optimization opportunities.
- Negotiate contracts, transportation rates, and service-level agreements with clients and vendors to support profitability and operational efficiency.
- Support business development initiatives by cross-selling and upselling automotive logistics services, including dedicated transportation, freight management, warehousing, sequencing, and distribution solutions.
- Partner with finance to monitor account profitability, ensure billing accuracy, and oversee collections in accordance with company policies.
- Ensure full compliance with DOT, safety, automotive quality, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain current knowledge of automotive and logistics industry trends, technologies, and best practices to deliver innovative, value-added solutions.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3–5 years of experience in account management, automotive logistics, transportation management, or supply chain operations required.
- Proven success managing client relationships within an automotive, logistics, or manufacturing-driven environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret logistics and transportation data to support operational decisions.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in Transportation Management Systems (TMS), Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), and Microsoft Office Suite; CRM experience preferred.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, production-driven environment.
- Strong leadership, collaboration, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work cross-functionally.
