Job Summary
The Machine Operator I is responsible for operating and supporting production machinery to meet safety, quality, and productivity standards. This role performs routine machine operations, basic inspections, and assists with setup and material handling under direct supervision.
Essential Job Functions
- Operate production machinery to support daily manufacturing operations, including CNC or similar equipment
- Perform basic machine tasks such as de-burring, surface finishing, preparation, and assembly
- Load raw materials and unload finished products from machines
- Monitor machine operation and identify defective material or questionable conditions
- Perform basic inspections to ensure parts meet specifications
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Follow all safety, environmental, and quality policies and procedures
- Communicate issues or concerns to supervision as needed
- Assist with machine setup and adjustments under guidance
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support production needs
Required Skills and Competencies
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Basic understanding of machine operation and manufacturing processes
- Ability to read part drawings, blueprints, and work instructions
- Familiarity with basic measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges
- Ability to use hand tools and basic shop equipment
- Attention to detail and quality standards
- Ability to work independently with supervision and as part of a team
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds regularly and occasionally up to 50 pounds
- Frequent use of hands for handling, grasping, and operating tools or controls
- Ability to visually inspect parts and read measurements
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Previous machine operator or manufacturing experience preferred
