Facilities Maintenance Assistant – Manufacturing Facility

Surface Mount Technology Corporation is looking for a hands-on, mechanically inclined person to help maintain our facility, grounds and general building systems.

This is a varied position. One day may involve completing a facility repair or assembling a production workstation; another may involve maintaining grounds, troubleshooting a basic plumbing or pneumatic issue, operating floor-cleaning equipment, or clearing snow.

We are not looking for someone who already knows how to do everything. We are looking for someone with strong mechanical aptitude, good judgment, dependable work habits and the ability to learn.

Previous electronics-manufacturing experience is not required.

What You Will Do

Responsibilities include a combination of indoor and outdoor facility work such as:

• Perform general facility maintenance and repairs.
• Complete assigned maintenance work orders in a timely manner.
• Troubleshoot and assist with basic plumbing, pneumatic and other facility issues.
• Set up and maintain ESD workstations.
• Assemble production carts, workstations and other facility equipment.
• Operate floor-cleaning and facility-maintenance equipment.
• Maintain grounds, including trimming bushes and plants.
• Plow snow and clear sidewalks using snow-removal equipment.
• Support preventative maintenance and general facility upkeep.
• Follow applicable safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout requirements.
• Help identify facility problems before they become larger issues.
• Perform other hands-on maintenance and facility-support work as needs arise.

• Willingness to perform both indoor and outdoor work.
• Willingness to work outside in Wisconsin weather when facility needs require it.

• A practical, safety-conscious approach to getting work done correctly.

Previous facilities maintenance experience is helpful, but it is not required.

Relevant experience could come from facility or property maintenance, manufacturing, mechanical work, construction, automotive work, farm work, equipment maintenance, landscaping or another hands-on environment.

What matters most is that you have demonstrated mechanical ability, are comfortable learning, and take ownership of getting things done.

Snow and Grounds Work

Snow removal is a real part of this position.

Previous snow-plowing experience is helpful, but SMT will consider candidates who have the mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn how to safely operate the equipment.

Candidates should be comfortable working outside when snow, weather or facility needs require it.

Pay: $23.00 - $25.00 per hour
