Shop Mechanic

Pay: $24hr - $26

Hours: M-F 6am - 5pm (will range within this time frame) (some Saturdays are mandatory)

Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Small Engine Mechanic to join our service team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining small engines and related equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical expertise, experience with various power tools, and a passion for delivering exceptional customer service. Duties

• Diagnose issues in small engines using schematics, electrical diagrams, and mechanical knowledge.
• Perform repairs on a variety of equipment including lawnmowers, chainsaws, generators, and other small engine-powered devices.
• Conduct routine maintenance such as oil changes, spark plug replacements, and belt adjustments.
• Utilize hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and soldering techniques to complete repairs efficiently.
• Troubleshoot electrical systems and perform electrical repairs on small engines and related machinery.
• Test repaired equipment to ensure proper operation and adherence to safety standards.
• Maintain detailed records of repairs performed and parts used for each job.
• Assist customers by explaining repair procedures and providing maintenance advice.
• Support inventory management by ordering parts and supplies as needed.
• Follow safety protocols consistently to ensure a safe working environment.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Small Engine Mechanic or in a similar service technician role.
• Dealership experience is highly preferred.
• Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to read schematics and technical manuals.
• Experience repairing diesel engines, generators, and automotive systems is advantageous.
• Familiarity with electrical systems, soldering, welding, and heavy lifting requirements.
• Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and diagnostic tools.
• Knowledge of Caterpillar machinery or heavy equipment repair is a plus.
• Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Valid driver’s license preferred; physical ability to lift heavy components safely.
