The Procurement Specialist/Manager is a hands-on, multi-faceted role responsible for the full spectrum of procurement activities, from strategic sourcing and negotiation to day-to-day purchasing. This role combines deep analytical and specialist expertise with the ability to manage all vendor relationships and streamline the purchasing process. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver with strong negotiation and interpersonal skills who can act as the sole authority and primary point of contact for all procurement matters.
Responsibilities and duties
Strategic and tactical sourcing:
· Execute sourcing strategies to identify and select new suppliers, ensuring the best value in terms of quality, cost, and reliability.
· Negotiate and manage all contracts, terms, and pricing with vendors and suppliers.
· Manage the entire procurement lifecycle, from initial requisition to purchase order and delivery.
Vendor and supplier management:
· Build and maintain strong, effective relationships with key suppliers and vendors.
· Conduct supplier performance evaluations and manage performance improvement plans when necessary.
· Resolve any issues with suppliers regarding delivery, quality, invoicing, or service.
Operational and process oversight:
· Develop and maintain all purchasing policies, guidelines, and procedures.
· Utilize procurement and ERP system (FreshByte) for all purchasing activities and for tracking spending and performance.
· Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and generate annual cost savings.
Budgeting and analysis:
· Conduct detailed spend analysis, market research, and cost-benefit analysis to inform sourcing decisions.
· Track and report on procurement-related key performance indicators (KPIs) and financial performance.
· Collaborate with finance and operational leadership to manage the procurement budget effectively.
Internal stakeholder collaboration:
· Work closely with all departments to understand their purchasing needs and provide expert guidance on procurement practices. (Operations (GM), Finance, R&D, Sales & Business Development)
· Function as the central point of contact for all procurement inquiries and needs, providing direct support and expertise.
Skills and qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business administration, or a related field.
Experience: 5 years of experience in procurement or strategic sourcing, with demonstrated experience in both specialist and leadership functions.
Technical skills:
· High proficiency with procurement software and ERP systems.
· Strong analytical, data management, and reporting skills, especially with Microsoft Excel.
Soft skills:
· Exceptional negotiation and communication skills.
· High level of accountability, self-motivation, and ability to work independently.
