What are the responsibilities and job description for the Welder - Structural position at Superior Skilled Trades?
Superior Skilled Trades is seeking experienced Bridgepart/Structural Welders/Fabricators to join our growing fabrication team. In this role, you will fabricate, fit, and weld bridgeparts and structural steel components used in commercial, industrial, bridge, and specialty steel projects
The ideal candidate has experience with FCAW welding, structural steel fabrication, blueprint reading, and fitting structural members while maintaining high-quality workmanship and a strong commitment to safety
· PAY: $22-$32
· HOURS: 6:30 am–3 pm
· SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday, approximately 40 hours/week
· START DATE: ASAP
· DURATION: Temp to hire
Responsibilities for Bridgepart/Structural Welder
- Perform FCAW (Flux Core Arc Welding) on structural steel components
- Read and interpret structural steel shop drawings, blueprints, and weld symbols
- Layout, fit, and assemble beams, columns, braces, trusses, plate, and miscellaneous steel
- Operate overhead cranes safely and efficiently
- Use oxy-fuel and plasma cutting equipment
- Perform carbon arc gouging as needed
- Grind, clean, and finish welds to required specifications
- Inspect completed work for dimensional accuracy and weld quality
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Follow OSHA regulations and all company safety policies and procedures
Qualifications for Bridgepart/Structural Welder
- Minimum of 2 years of structural steel, bridgework, or heavy plate fabrication experience preferred
- Experience with FCAW welding required
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and weld symbols
- Experience operating overhead cranes
- Proficient with tape measures, squares, and other precision measuring tools
- Current or previous AWS certifications are a plus
- AWS D1.5 (Bridge Welding Code) preferred
- AWS D1.1 certification also beneficial
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Frequent bending, kneeling, climbing, and overhead work
- Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled fabrication shop
Additional Requirements:
- Must be eligible to work in the United States.
- Must have reliable transportation to the job site.
