Superior Sales & Service is seeking a skilled and dependable Heavy-Duty Mechanic to join our team in Plattsmouth, NE. This position involves repairing and maintaining heavy-duty trucks and specialized rail equipment. Work may be performed in our Plattsmouth shop or at customer locations in the field, depending on operational needs and service requirements.
The ideal candidate is self-motivated, organized, and capable of working independently while providing excellent customer service. This position offers a high level of autonomy, allowing technicians to manage their own schedules and customer appointments while receiving support from the Superior Sales & Service team.
Prior railroad or hy-rail experience is not required. We will provide training on rail equipment and rail-specific systems for qualified candidates with a strong heavy-duty mechanical background. Some travel to customer locations is required, and occasional overnight travel may be necessary.
Heavy-Duty Mechanic Responsibilities
- Perform repair and maintenance on heavy-duty trucks and rail equipment, including hy-rail systems, booms, cranes, and braking systems.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical issues.
- Conduct diesel engine and electronic diagnostics.
- Manage and coordinate your own work schedule, customer appointments, and service bookings.
- Communicate directly with customers regarding service needs, scheduling, and repair status.
- Perform repairs safely and efficiently in both shop and field environments.
- Follow standard operating procedures and safety protocols.
- Complete accurate work orders, service records, and reports.
- Maintain company equipment, service vehicles, and tools in a professional manner.
- Provide reliable, high-quality service while representing Superior Sales & Service professionally.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 36 months of fleet maintenance, diesel repair, or heavy-duty truck repair experience required.
- Strong background in hydraulics and mechanical troubleshooting.
- Experience diagnosing and repairing electrical systems.
- Experience with booms, cranes, and heavy equipment preferred.
- Experience with hy-rail systems is a plus but not required. Rail equipment training will be provided.
- Diesel engine and electronic diagnostic experience preferred.
- Must provide your own tools.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize workload, and manage time effectively.
- Strong organizational and customer service skills.
- Ability to manage service schedules, appointments, and customer bookings with minimal supervision.
- Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Willingness to travel to customer locations and stay overnight occasionally when required.

Salary : $65,000 - $70,000
