Job Title: Lightning Protection Estimator (DFW Area)
Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Lightning Protection Estimator. In this role, you will focus exclusively on preparing accurate, competitive estimates for lightning protection systems on commercial and industrial construction projects. You will review plans and specs we provide, along with bid opportunities from Construction Connect and similar platforms, to deliver timely and profitable bids. This is a specialized estimating position.
Key Responsibilities
- Review project plans, specifications, and drawings (provided) to prepare comprehensive lightning protection system estimates.
- Utilize estimating software such as HeavyBid, Bluebeam, or similar tools to create detailed cost proposals and bid packages.
- Analyze bid opportunities from Construction Connect, Dodge, and other construction bidding platforms.
- Collaborate with our team to clarify scope and requirements as needed for accurate bidding.
- Ensure estimates are competitive, accurate, and aligned with NFPA 780, UL 96A, and industry standards.
- Support bid submissions with clear breakdowns and supporting documentation.
Requirements
- Proven experience in construction estimating, ideally with lightning protection systems, grounding, or related electrical disciplines.
- Proficiency with Bluebeam (or similar takeoff/markup tools) and HeavyBid (or comparable estimating software) is strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of lightning protection materials, labor costs, and pricing strategies.
- Ability to work independently on estimates while communicating clearly with the team.
- Detail-oriented with excellent analytical and math skills.
- Familiarity with commercial/industrial projects (data centers, pump houses, etc.) is a plus.
