Job Description

As a Design Engineer II at Superior Industries, you'll play a key role in the design and development of custom vibratory equipment from concept to manufacturing. This role offers the opportunity to get hands-on involvement in design analysis, testing, prototyping, and cross-team collaboration —offering comprehensive engineering involvement in the product life cycle and impact on the aggregate industry.

A Design Engineer II is responsible for completing the following duties:

  • Coordinate, design and detail custom vibratory equipment for the aggregate market
  • Design and detail custom vibratory equipment
  • Perform testing and prototyping of new products
  • Assist production teams and field teams in troubleshooting equipment issues
  • Perform design analysis for components
  • Create detail drawings
  • Complete bills of material
  • Evaluate and implement design changes
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering or related education
  • Thorough understanding of:
    • Drafting standards, dimensioning, and tolerances
    • Mechanical power relationships such as horse power, torque, speed, ratios
    • Shaft, bearing, and power transmission design and analysis
    • Strengths of materials and structural analysis
    • Motion and dynamics principles such as g-force and natural frequency
  • Training and/or experience in using SolidWorks, AutoDesk Inventor, Au or similar 3D CAD software
  • Training and/or experience in FEA simulation and interpretation
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
