Part‑Time Activities Coordinator – Assisted Living Facility
Position Overview
The Activities Coordinator is responsible for planning, organizing, and leading engaging programs that enhance the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive well‑being of residents in our assisted living community. This part‑time role is ideal for someone creative, energetic, and compassionate who enjoys building meaningful connections with older adults.
Key Responsibilities
Program Planning & Facilitation
- Develop and lead a variety of activities such as arts and crafts, games, music, exercise, social events, and educational programs.
- Adapt activities to meet the needs, abilities, and interests of residents.
- Create monthly activity calendars and ensure events are communicated clearly to residents and staff.
Resident Engagement
- Encourage resident participation and provide individualized support when needed.
- Build positive relationships with residents to understand their preferences and abilities.
- Assist residents in attending activities, including escorting them as needed.
Event Coordination
- Plan special events, holiday celebrations, and family‑friendly gatherings.
- Coordinate with volunteers, entertainers, and community partners.
- Set up and clean up activity spaces before and after events.
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain attendance records and activity documentation as required by facility policies and state regulations.
- Ensure all activities follow safety guidelines and support residents’ well‑being.
- Communicate resident concerns or changes in behavior to nursing or administrative staff.
Collaboration
- Work closely with the Director of Nursing, nursing staff, and caregivers to support a holistic resident experience.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for improving resident engagement.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education in recreation, social services, or gerontology preferred.
- Experience working with seniors, especially in assisted living, memory care, or healthcare settings, is a plus.
- Strong communication, creativity, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lead group activities with enthusiasm and patience.
- Basic computer skills for calendars, documentation, and communication.
- Must be able to lift and move activity materials and assist residents as needed.
Schedule
- Part‑time position (typically 15 hours per week).
- Some evenings, weekends, and holidays may be required for special events.
