Role Description This Independent Contractor role is a contract, on-site position based in Madison, WI. The contractor will install residential and commercial fencing, including vinyl, wood, and aluminum products, following company standards and customer specifications. Day-to-day tasks include measuring and laying out fence lines, setting posts, assembling panels, operating power and hand tools, and ensuring work areas are clean and safe. The contractor will interact with customers and site supervisors, review project plans, and coordinate materials and scheduling to complete projects on time. This role requires consistent adherence to safety guidelines, local building codes, and Superior Fence & Rail’s quality expectations.
Qualifications
- Hands-on skills in fence installation, carpentry, or general construction, including safe use of power tools and equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret basic drawings, measurements, and job specifications, with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Experience working outdoors in varied weather conditions and performing physically demanding tasks such as lifting, digging, and manual labor.
- Strong time management, reliability, and self-direction to complete projects independently while coordinating with the onsite team.
- Effective communication skills for interacting with customers and colleagues in a professional, courteous manner.
- Commitment to safety practices and compliance with local regulations and company procedures.
- Previous experience in fencing required
- Access to reliable transportation and, where applicable, basic tools needed for on-site work
