Job Title: Asphalt Foreman

Job Summary
The Asphalt Foreman is responsible for managing and directing asphalt paving crews on construction projects to ensure high-quality, safe, and efficient operations. The Foreman ensures that all work meets project specifications and is completed on time and within budget. This hands-on role provides leadership in the field and is critical to the daily success of paving operations.
Key Responsibilities
Crew Supervision
- Lead, train, and supervise field crew members during paving operations.
- Assign tasks, monitor performance, and ensure productivity standards are met.
- Promote a positive, safe, and respectful work environment.
Project Execution
- Interpret job specifications, site plans, and layouts to execute the work as designed.
- Operate and oversee the operation of paving equipment such as pavers, rollers, and skid steers.
- Ensure proper setup and breakdown of job sites.
- Coordinate trucking, asphalt delivery, and materials handling on site.
Quality & Safety
- Monitor work quality, paving temperature, compaction, and surface finish.
- Conduct daily safety meetings and ensure crew compliance with safety policies and procedures.
- Identify and address potential hazards or problems promptly.
Communication & Reporting
- Report progress, delays, and issues to the Superintendent or Project Manager.
- Keep accurate records of labor, equipment, and materials used.
- Communicate clearly with team members, inspectors, and subcontractors.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum 7 years of asphalt paving experience, including crew leadership.
Skills & Competencies
- Knowledge of asphalt paving processes, equipment, and job site safety.
- Proficient at operating Paver, Roller, & Skid Steer.
- Ability to read construction drawings and project specifications.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet project deadlines.
Working Conditions
- Outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
- Must be able to stand, walk, lift, bend, and operate machinery for extended periods.
- May require night or weekend work depending on project needs.
