GOALS Navigator - SUNY Oneonta

As a GOALS Navigator, you will play a key role in supporting student persistence and academic recovery by providing targeted outreach and individualized support to students experiencing academic difficulty. The GOALS Navigator works closely with students who have been deferred dismissed, reinstated after appeal, or placed on academic probation, connecting them with campus resources, helping them develop strategies to return to good academic standing, and make meaningful progress toward degree completion. This is an 11-month position, offering the benefit of one month off annually during the summer months, in addition to accrued vacation time.

The GOALS Program is part of the university's broader retention and academic support efforts within the Division of Academic Affairs. Through the Office of the Provost, Academic Affairs leads institutional initiatives that promote student success, academic achievement, and retention by fostering collaboration across campus and providing comprehensive support services.

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Serving as a guide for students who have been deferred dismissed, reinstated on academic probation, or placed/continued on probation.
• Proactively engaging with students to support academic success before they fall below standards of good academic standing.
• Developing and implementing programming and outreach initiatives for at-risk students.
• Working within the Student Learning Center to deliver academic support programming for students in the GOALS Program.
• Collaborating with campus partners to coordinate services and promote student success.
• Working occasional evenings or weekends as needed to support program operations.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
• Demonstrated proficiency in the use of technology, including Microsoft Office applications.
• Demonstrated strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated involvement in a higher education environment.
• One year of experience working in a teaching or student support capacity (e.g., tutoring, K-12 education, or higher education).

Preferred:

• Experience developing, implementing, and evaluating programs or events.
• Two to three years of experience working in a teaching or student support capacity (e.g., tutoring, K-12 education, or higher education).
• Experience working with and serving diverse populations.
