Position Overview

SunSoftOnlineis seeking a detail-orientedPenalty Support Specialistto join our team supporting a major Arizona state agency in Phoenix, AZ.

This role operates on ahybrid scheduleand is ideal for an organized administrative professional with strong data accuracy, research abilities, and customer support skills. You will manage and process penalty review requests, evaluate documentation, maintain tax records, and ensure compliance with administrative guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

• Case & Penalty Review:Analyze taxpayer account histories, review abatement/waiver requests, and evaluate supporting documentation.
  

• Administrative & Data Processing:Enter case details accurately into tracking systems, maintain tax files, and process penalty adjustments.
  

• Communication:Draft standard clear written correspondence and respond to taxpayer or internal inquiries regarding penalty policies.
  

• Research & Compliance:Research statutes, rules, and account history to support accurate and fair determinations.
  

• General Operations:Provide general administrative support to the Taxpayer Services division to ensure smooth daily operations.
  

Qualifications & Requirements

Required Skills:

• Admin Skills:Strong office/clerical experience, data entry, document organization, and basic computer proficiency (MS Office/Excel).
  

• Attention to Detail:Excellent proofreading and data verification skills.
  

• Communication:Solid written and verbal communication skills for administrative correspondence.
  

Preferred Skills (Bonus):

• 10-Key Experience:Fast and accurate numeric data entry.
  

• Tax/Financial Admin:Prior exposure to government, legal, tax, or financial record-keeping environments.
