Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Meat Cutter to join our grocery store team. The Meat Cutter will be responsible for cutting and preparing various types of meat for sale, maintaining the highest standards of safety and cleanliness, and providing excellent customer service. The ideal candidate will have experience with meat cutting tools and techniques, a strong understanding of meat products, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Cut, trim, and prepare various cuts of meat (including beef, pork, poultry, and fish) according to company standards and customer requests.
- Use knives, saws, grinders, and other equipment to cut and prepare meat products.
- Ensure the meat section is well-stocked, clean, and visually appealing to customers.
- Maintain a safe and sanitary work area, adhering to health and safety guidelines and regulations.
- Assist customers with meat selections, providing recommendations and answering questions about meat products.
- Monitor inventory levels and report needs to the Meat Department Manager.
- Label and price meat products accurately.
- Assist with receiving and inspecting meat shipments, ensuring quality and freshness.
- Work with the Meat Department Manager to manage waste and optimize product usage.
- Stay informed about the latest meat cutting techniques and industry trends.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a meat cutter/butcher or relevant role in the food industry.
- Knowledge of various meat types, cuts, and preparation methods.
- Proficiency with using meat cutting tools and equipment safely.
- Strong attention to detail and quality control.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy objects.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent; certification from a meat cutting school is a plus.
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
