Position
Summary:
We are retained to search for a
full-time, BC/BE Interventional Cardiologist to join our growing cardiology
service line. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic physician eager to build a
robust interventional practice while also providing comprehensive general
cardiology care. This role is critical in expanding vital cardiac services to
the people of the Big Island, reducing the need for patients to travel to Oahu
or the mainland for specialized care.
This position offers a unique
opportunity to be a clinical leader, directly influencing the development of
cardiac services in a beautiful, rural setting.
Key
Responsibilities:
Clinical Duties (90%):
- Perform a full range of
diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization procedures,
including but not limited to:
- Coronary angiography and
ventriculography.
- Percutaneous Coronary
Interventions (PCI), including primary PCI for STEMI.
- Intravascular imaging (IVUS,
OCT).
- Mechanical circulatory support
(IABP, Impella).
- Provide inpatient and outpatient
consultative cardiology services.
- Interpret diagnostic tests,
including EKGs, Holter monitors, event monitors, and stress tests
(exercise and pharmacologic).
- Perform and interpret
transesophageal and transthoracic echocardiograms.
- Collaborate closely with
referring physicians, emergency department staff, and hospitalists to
provide coordinated patient care.
- Participate in the development
and implementation of clinical protocols and quality improvement
initiatives for the cardiology service.
- Share on-call responsibilities
with other cardiology staff.
Administrative & Educational
Duties (10%):
- Participate in medical staff and
departmental meetings.
- Supervise and teach medical
students, residents, and other healthcare professionals as applicable.
- Maintain accurate and timely
electronic medical record (EMR) documentation.
- Adhere to all policies,
procedures, and compliance standards.
Minimum
Qualifications:
- Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of
Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited school.
- Successful completion of an
accredited residency in Internal Medicine.
- Successful completion of an
accredited fellowship in Cardiovascular Disease.
- Successful completion of an
accredited fellowship in Interventional Cardiology.
- Board Certified or Board Eligible
in Cardiovascular Disease and Interventional Cardiology.
- Possess or be eligible for a
valid Hawaiʻi State Medical License.
- Possess or be eligible for DEA
registration.
- Current BLS and ACLS
certification.

- Experience practicing in a rural
or community hospital setting.
- Proficiency in peripheral
vascular interventions.
- Interest in developing or
participating in clinical research.
- Previous leadership experience.
