What are the responsibilities and job description for the Banquet Captain position at Sunset Event Space?
Job Summary:
Lead event execution and ensure exceptional guest experiences. Act as a key liaison between clients and the service team, overseeing all aspects of individual events, from set-up to breakdown, while managing banquet staff to ensure seamless food and beverage service. The Banquet Captain reports directly to the Banquet and Sales Managers.
Job Responsibilities:
· Lead and manage a team of banquet servers, bartenders, and bussers, assigning tasks and ensuring service standards are met.
· Conduct pre-shift meetings to review event details and ensure staff readiness.
· Provide on-the-job training to maintain high service quality and professionalism.
· Oversee the setup of events by carefully reviewing Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) and
event diagrams to ensure the room is arranged according to the approved plan.
· Coordinate with the banquet team to place tables, chairs, linens, décor, and any other required equipment and decor as specified.
· Conduct a final walkthrough before event start time to verify accuracy and completeness, adjusting as necessary to meet client expectations.
· Monitor event execution in real-time, addressing any client concerns or special
requests promptly.
· Act as the primary point of contact between clients and the service team, ensuring
events are executed to specifications.
· Maintain open communication with clients, kitchen staff, and management to provide updates and resolve issues.
· Inspect banquet setup, verify food and beverage quality, and manage service timing.
· Ensure compliance with sanitation, safety, and venue regulations.
· Oversee event breakdown, reconcile inventory, and ensure proper cleanup.
· Complete necessary paperwork, including event reports, and provide feedback to
management.
Due to the critical nature of the Hospitality Industry, event staff must have flexible availability. Schedules will vary weekly based on business demands and needs of the property.

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
