Job Summary
The Banquet Captain is responsible for supervising banquet staff and ensuring the successful execution of all banquet and special events. This role coordinates food and beverage service, maintains high customer service standards, and acts as the liaison between banquet staff, kitchen personnel, and event organizers to ensure guest satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate banquet servers before, during, and after events.
- Conduct pre-event meetings to review event details, service standards, and staff assignments.
- Ensure banquet rooms are properly set up according to event specifications.
- Monitor food and beverage service to maintain quality and efficiency.
- Assist staff with serving food and beverages as needed.
- Communicate with kitchen, catering, and management teams regarding event requirements.
- Resolve guest concerns and special requests promptly and professionally.
- Maintain compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations.
- Train and mentor banquet staff on service procedures and hospitality standards.
- Inspect banquet areas before and after events to ensure cleanliness and organization.
- Manage inventory of banquet supplies and equipment.
- Prepare event reports and communicate any operational issues to management.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; hospitality education preferred.
- Previous experience in banquet operations, food service, or hospitality management.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
- Capability to lift and carry event equipment and stand for extended periods.
