About the Program: 

The Supported Living Program (SL) provides community living services for adults with a wide range of disabilities and mental health challenges. The SL program promotes self-determination, independence, and competence for clients. The staffing specialist will match Direct Support Professionals with program clients. Primary duties include tracking and scheduling training and compliance for Direct Support Professionals (DSP), creating and maintaining master and real-time schedules, and coordinating with our Direct Care Supervisors (DCS), Program Manager (PM), and Program Director to ensure clients’ staffing needs are met at all times.

 

Duties & Responsibilities: (Tasks, Responsibilities, and Competencies. May not include all duties of this job)

  • Review hiring packets from recently hired potential Direct Support Professional candidates and match them with vacancies at Client homes.
  • Submit and track background checks for new and existing DSP hires. Follow up with DSP with any concerns with the submitted background check. Assist HR with background check renewals, retrieving additional information required by the Background Check Unit to ensure compliance. 
  • Ability to conduct progressive discipline with new DSP staff while in the training period and withdraw offers of employment when Direct Support Professional candidates do not meet specific program requirements. Complete separation paperwork as needed. 
  • Assess and evaluate the unique staffing requirements of each individual client by working closely with Direct Care Supervisors, Behavioral Techs, Program Coordinators, and Program Director, and by referring to specific and written client staffing requirements and needs provided by the supervisor to ensure client and staff compatibility.  
  • Schedule new qualified DSPs to open shifts at client homes by matching individual and unique client needs and requirements with the individual DSPs unique qualifications, attributes, and personality. Understand that the emphasis when matching a DSP to a client will be to optimize self-determination, personal choice, personal and community status, interpersonal relationships, preventive health, and safety for the client.
  • Receive site staffing allocations from the Program Director and collaborate with DCS, Program Managers, and Program Director to meet the established site allocation. Notifying site supervisory staff of any changes to allocation and collaborating to come to a common solution that best meets the staffing needs and requirements of the clients.  
  • Assess, track, and schedule all required employee trainings as guided by the WAC. Track changes to training curriculums. Efficiently track recurrent trainings. Assess, track, and renew required certifications such as NAR, NAC, HCA-C certification. Track and maintain special program qualifications as directed by state agencies such as RCS, DDA, DCYF, & WAC.
  • Maintain and keep current MicroStaffer records for all required and completed trainings. Conduct regular employee files audits to confirm accurate and appropriate documentation within WAC and Sunrise compliance. Instruct miscellaneous training classes as needed. 
  • Process various paperwork such as training documentation, leave requests, and orientations. 
  • Create and maintain MicroStaffer and Team Master Schedules for each and every Residential, Supported Living, and AFH site using information provided by DCS, Program Manager, and Program Director. Process and update MicroStaffer schedules and Team Masters when changes to schedules are required, including incompatibilities and administrative leaves. 
  • Fill open shifts that have been vacated due to Call-ins, Leave Requests, Resignations, Drop Shifts, and Administrative Leaves etc. on a daily and/or a weekly basis. Utilize creative thinking when covering difficult shifts, including team coordination and collaboration with DCS, Program Manager, and Program Director as needed. Track and maintain electronic files for all DSP attendance concerns. Coordinating with Human Resources, DCS, Program Manager, and Program Director as needed on DSP attendance. 

Requirements: (Any Equivalent Combination of Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, and Experience)

  • Education:  Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or other appropriate field preferredTwo years of experience in human services or in staffing or scheduling field required. Any other acceptable combination of education and experience may be substituted for the above requirements.

  • DSHS background clearance required.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift up to approximately 10 pounds 
  • Able to operate personal computer, as well as standard calculator to perform simple math functions.  
  • Skill using Microsoft Word, Excel and Access softwareAbility to learn and utilize scheduling and other essential software.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Customer service oriented.
  • Must be detail oriented, and have strong organization skills as well as time-management, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in an ever-changing, fast paced environment.
  • Must be creative, flexible, and dependable and maintain a positive attitude at all times.  
  • Ability to work well with diverse populations essentialAble to establish and maintain appropriate and professional working relationships with peers, staff, supervisors, and clients. 

Compensation: 

 

  • $22-$24/hour
  • Wages depend on applicable experience, licensure, education. 

Schedule:

Monday - Friday, 8 am - 4:30 pm
