Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)

General Responsibilities: As part of a multidisciplinary team; conduct psychiatric assessments; assess physical health needs; make appropriate referrals to community physicians; provide supervision, management, and administration of medication in conjunction with the psychiatrist; deliver medication management, medication reviews/updates and occasional initial psychiatric evaluation services for clients who receive services from Sunrise Services Community Mental Health program.

Principal Duties, Responsibilities, and Essential Job Functions:

· Conduct face-to-face appointments with Sunrise Services Community Mental Health program clients in order to assess the client's need for psychotropic medications, to prescribe and/or administer medications and to review the client's medications and their side effects.

· Provide occasional short-term psychotherapy to program clients.

· Obtain appropriate informed consent from clients regarding medication effects, risks/benefits and possible adverse effects of medications.

· Prepare and maintain accurate, complete and timely documentation of prescriber services rendered to program clients.

· Provide consultation and training to Sunrise Services Community Mental Health program staff regarding appropriate use of psychotropic medications.

· Participate in and conduct parts of the client-centered comprehensive assessment of psychiatric history (e.g., onset, course and effect of illness, past treatment and responses, and risk behaviors), mental status, and diagnosis; physical health and dental health; use of drugs or alcohol; education and employment; social development and functioning; activities of daily living (e.g., self-care, living situation, nutrition, money management); and family structure and relationships. Document client progress to maintain a permanent record of client activity according to established methods and procedures.

· Participate in daily staff organizational meetings and treatment planning review meetings.

· Supervise and provide medication administration and medical services.

· Organize and manage the system of getting medication to clients and integrating medication administration tightly into clients' individual treatment plans.

· Requires daily travel to visit clients in their homes.

Part-Time

Must be available to work on Wednesday. Other days can be flexible.

Compensation: 

$60 - $80/hour

Wages are determined by applicable industry experience, education, and certifications/licensure.

Essential Requirements: (Any Equivalent Combination of Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, and Experience)

• Education: Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) must have completed a formal nurse practitioner program and be certified for advanced practice in the State of Washington and a current Washington ARNP licensure with prescriptive authority;
  • Bachelor of Science or Masters of Science degree in nursing (BSN/MSN) and/or a minimum of five years of experience is preferred.

• Experience:  Experience in a mental health setting, with demonstrated ability to relate effectively with people of varied backgrounds, is preferred.  

• Licensure/Certification:  Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with DEA number and liability insurance. 
• Other Considerations: 

• DSHS background clearance is required.
• Current valid Washington State driver’s license.
• Skill using Microsoft Office products including Word and Outlook.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, and demonstrated leadership ability.
• Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment in challenging dynamic situations including behavioral and staffing issues.
• Skill in reading, synthesizing and acting upon multifaceted information
