Overview
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistants to provide exceptional support and care to individuals in their homes and communities. This role is vital in promoting independence, safety, and well-being for client with diverse needs, including those with developmental disabilities, dementia, Alzheimer's, autism, and other health conditions. The ideal candidate will be committed to delivering personalized care with professionalism and empathy, ensuring compliance with all relevant health and safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support
- Monitor patient condition by observing physical and emotional status; report changes to healthcare professionals
- Document appropriately in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist residents during meal times
- Operate assistive devices such as Hoyer lifts and manage safe transfers for residents with mobility challenges
- Maintain a clean and safe environment through regular cleaning and sanitation of living areas
- Support residents' emotional well-being through companionship and engaging activities
- Follow care plans meticulously to ensure personalized care delivery aligned with healthcare provider instructions
- Take vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration as required
- Assist with medication administration under supervision when necessary
- Document all care activities accurately in compliance with healthcare regulations
- Uphold safety protocols including CPR and First Aid procedures; respond effectively to emergencies
Qualifications
- Prior experience in home & community care, assisted living, nursing homes, or hospice care is preferred
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques and monitoring vital signs
- Familiarity with Alzheimer's care, dementia care, memory care, autism support, and working with people with disabilities or developmental disabilities is advantageous
- Certification in CPR and First Aid required or willingness to obtain upon hire
- Experience with medication administration and creating or following care plans preferred
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when necessary; physically capable of assisting residents with mobility needs
- Strong communication skills; compassionate attitude; ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations ensuring confidentiality of patient information
- Valid experience in long-term care or home health services is a plus
