Job Overview
As a Personal Care Assistant, you will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals in need of support. Your compassionate care will help clients maintain their independence and dignity while providing essential assistance in daily activities. You will work closely with clients in various settings, ensuring they receive the highest standard of care tailored to their unique needs.
What you’ll do
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support.
- Record the actions and care each individual received according to their specific Part V residential schedule, through daily notetaking on a computer.
- Monitor and document vital signs and patient conditions to ensure health and safety.
- Prepare nutritious meals and assist with meal planning to promote healthy eating habits.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance clients' overall well-being.
- Administer medications as prescribed and assist with care plans to meet individual health needs.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping duties and ensuring hygiene standards are met.
- Engage clients in social activities that promote cognitive function and emotional health.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to implement effective caregiving strategies tailored to each client’s specific requirements.
Basic qualifications
- Experience in patient observation and monitoring, with a focus on senior care or long-term care environments.
- Knowledge of first aid and CPR techniques to respond effectively in emergencies.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure client confidentiality is maintained at all times.
Preferred qualifications
- Previous experience working with individuals who have developmental disabilities or autism.
- Proficiency in using assistive devices such as Hoyer lifts for safe patient transfers.
- Background in nursing or social work is advantageous for understanding complex client needs.
