What are the responsibilities and job description for the Office Assistant - 26/27 SY position at Sunnyside Unified School District?
DEFINITION: Work collaboratively and independently in a busy, fast-paced office whose primary goal is to ensure that school sites have what they need to function smoothly and that problems are resolved quickly and professionally. The position requires flexibility to assist with a myriad of different tasks and support all members of the department. Strong work ethic and positive demeanor are essential in this role as a liaison between the community, schools and departments for Sunnyside Unified School District.

Tasks
Maintain a welcoming and service-oriented office; speaks with parents, community members, vendors in person and on the phone; prepares student and staff travel processes and paperwork and employee reimbursements. Schedules and helps coordinate meetings and PD; assists with ordering curriculum and supplies; and supports the procurement processes as needed.
Position provides clerical support for C&I department directors and program specialists as needed; and must be able to manage multiple tasks and projects in a dead-line driven environment with a high level of accuracy. Position requires an ability to prioritize, manage time well and pay attention to detail. Support events like New Teacher Orientations, etc,; work across departments to ensure tasks are completed. Due to the complex work with schools, students and families, the ability to maintain confidentiality is required. Performs related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills And Other Characteristics
Knowledge of District policies and procedures.
Knowledge of Visions, Frontline and Powerschool
Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google (email, spreadsheets, documents, etc.)..
Skill in handling requests in a timely manner.
Skill in updating and maintaining letters and reports.
Skill in following oral and written instructions.
Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
Physical Requirements
Work is performed in an indoor environment. Work requires frequent sitting, standing, bending, repetitive motion, vision to monitor, and may require some lifting. May be exposed to hostile or irate staff, students or public.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent.
One (1) year clerical experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience or two (2) years as a Sunnyside Unified School District employee
Additional certifications may also be required as specified by the District.
Preferred Qualifications
Bilingual (Spanish and English)
Experience working at a school
Depending on the needs of the District, some incumbents in this class must be able to demonstrate fluency in both Spanish and English as a condition of employment.
