DEFINITION: The Human Resources Specialist (Substitutes & Recruitment) serves as an informational resource for the Sunnyside Unified School District. This position positively represents the district by providing prompt and exceptional customer service and is responsible for recruitment and staffing of vacancies.

Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and database software programs.

Skill in organizing schedules and meetings and preparing letters and reports.

Skill in following oral and written instructions.
Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships and can contribute positively to the team
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work is performed in an indoor environment. Work requires frequent sitting, standing, bending, repetitive motion, vision to monitor, and may require some lifting.
Qualifications
High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
Two years of related experience in a human resources office, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Depending on the needs of the District, some incumbents in this class must be able to demonstrate fluency in both Spanish and English as a condition of employment.
Salary Grade: K Hourly Pay: $22.00 Hours per Day: 8 Days: 260 Additional Information: Work Hours 6:00am to 2:30pm

Essential Functions

Tasks
- Maintains frequent and positive communication with site administrators and office managers
- Recruits qualified candidates through various recruitment channels
- Interviews, enters, maintains, and updates employee records in the automated database and manual files for substitute hires
- Maintains internet job postings on the employment website
- Prepares all Personal Action Requests and applicant information as needed for board packet
- Reviews employment applications to determine if qualifications have been met and conducts pre-employment reference checks (as requested)
- Processes and prepares new employee paperwork in accordance with state and federal statutes and District policy, such as I-9 verification, E-Verify, Arizona New Hires, and Arizona State Retirement System.
- Processes new hires, coordinates the fingerprinting process, sends approval letters to new hires, and assists with new employee orientation
- Assists new employees with personnel policies
- Maintains confidentiality with regards to all employee files and issues
- Maintains all pertinent active and inactive physical and electronic personnel and I-9 records.
- Coordinates with third party vendors on substitute coverage and works with Accounts Payable on reconciling and billing
- Generates and distributes periodic personnel reports; monitors certification status of substitute certified employees and provides support for obtaining certifications as needed
- Works in conjunction with the Payroll Department to ensure accurate timesheets and pay for all substitutes
- Assists with employer branding and recruitment marketing initiatives
- Is responsible for daily reports (as requested)
- Performs other duties as assigned
