Description

We are seeking a compassionate and creative Life Enrichment Coordinator to join our dedicated team in providing meaningful activities and engagement for residents in our Memory Care community. This role offers an opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of individuals with memory impairments by designing and implementing programs that promote cognitive, emotional, and social well-being.


Full Time, Monday - Friday (to include some weekends) 10:00 AM - 6:30 PM

Pay Range: $17.75 - $26.61/hour


The Memory Support Life Enrichment Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing a comprehensive life enrichment program that promotes engagement, independence, dignity, and quality of life for residents living in the Memory Support Neighborhood. This position develops meaningful individualized and group programming designed to meet the physical, cognitive, emotional, social, and spiritual needs of residents while fostering a safe, supportive, and person-centered environment. 


Qualifications:

  

· High school diploma or equivalent required.

· Activities Professional Certification preferred or willingness to obtain at 1 year.

· Experience working with individuals living with Alzheimer's disease or other forms of dementia preferred. 

· Previous experience coordinating activities or life enrichment programs in a senior living or healthcare setting preferred. 

· Knowledge of dementia care practices, person-centered programming, and behavior management techniques. Willing to obtain Dementia Certification.

· Qualified or eligible for certification to become therapeutic recreation specialist or an activities professional with first year of employment.

· Ability or willing to drive a 14-passenger bus for on/off campus events (bus is wheelchair accessible)

· At least 1 year full time work experience within the last five years in direct care or an activities program in an adult care setting. C.N.A. experience preferred. 

· Computer Competent

· Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. 

· Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with an interdisciplinary team. 

· Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record if transporting residents. 

· CPR/First Aid certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.

Requirements

  

· Develop, coordinate, and implement a comprehensive monthly life enrichment calendar that includes group activities, individualized programming, special events, holiday celebrations, and weekend programming. 

· Plan activities that promote residents' physical, emotional, cognitive, social, and spiritual well-being. 

· Conduct individualized activities based on each resident's interests, abilities, preferences, and assessed needs. 

· Complete activity and leisure assessments for prospective and current residents to develop individualized programming. 

· Transport residents safely to on-campus and off-campus activities as appropriate. 

· Encourage resident participation while respecting individual preferences and abilities. 

· Facilitate sensory stimulation experiences, including use of the Multi-Sensory Environment (MSE/Snoezelen Room), to promote comfort, engagement, and non-pharmacological interventions for behavioral support. 

· Utilize person-centered approaches, reality orientation, validation, reminiscence, and motivational techniques when interacting with residents.

· Assist residents and families with completing resident history, behavior profiles, and individualized care planning documentation. 

· Assist facilitator for caregiver’s support group through Alzheimer’s Association

· Participate in interdisciplinary care planning meetings as appropriate. 

· Monitor resident participation and document responses to activities according to community policies and regulatory requirements. 

· Observe changes in resident functioning or behavior and communicate concerns to the nursing team.

· Coordinate activity staffing and volunteers to ensure quality resident programming. 

· Obtain, organize, and maintain activity supplies, equipment, and materials. 

· Prepare and maintain activity spaces and equipment for daily programming. 

· Collaborate with nursing, dining services, maintenance, housekeeping, therapy, and other departments to coordinate activities and special events. 

· Participate in campus-wide life enrichment events and community celebrations. 

· Coordinate communication with Alzheimer's support group participants, including monthly meeting reminders.

· Maintain accurate activity documentation and resident records in accordance with state and federal regulations. 

· Assist in ensuring the Memory Support Neighborhood remains survey-ready and compliant with applicable regulatory standards. 

· Maintain required documentation for annual state surveys and regulatory reviews.

· Assist in orienting and educating new team members on dementia care, communication techniques, resident behaviors, and person-centered approaches. 

· Promote best practices in dementia care throughout the community.

· Maintain accurate calendars, attendance records, assessments, and program documentation.

· Operate office and audiovisual equipment including computers, projectors, televisions, DVD equipment, laminators, digital cameras, amplification systems, and other equipment necessary for programming. 

· Safely operate community vehicles, including wheelchair-accessible vans, when required and authorized.

· Maintain resident confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations. 

· Adhere to all community policies, procedures, and professional standards. 

· Attend all required meetings, in-services, and continuing education programs. 

· Complete all required state, federal, and company training. 

· Demonstrate professionalism, compassion, dependability, and accountability in all aspects of the position. 

· Promote a safe environment by following all safety policies, infection prevention practices, and emergency procedures.
