The Position
We are seeking an Accountant I (Tax and GL) to join our growing team. In this role, you will provide key support to the Senior Tax Accountant by assisting with sales tax reconciliations, federal and state tax compliance, audit support, and various tax and accounting related projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform sales tax account reconciliations and support month-end close process.
- Work closely with the accounting team to maintain sales tax–related accounts on an ongoing basis.
- Prepare and file amended sales tax returns as needed.
- Assist with inventory reconciliations and support inventory valuation analysis in coordination with the GL team.
- Support property tax compliance and analysis initiatives, including data gathering and coordination with internal stakeholders and external advisors.
- Assist with preparing monthly sales and use tax workpapers and filing sales and use tax returns in all applicable jurisdictions, including new tax registrations and online account setup.
- Support multi-state sales and use tax compliance, including research of taxability and nexus considerations.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate billing and application of sales and use tax.
- Gather, organize, and analyze financial data to support audits and regulatory reporting.
- Manage and prioritize multiple tasks and projects while meeting deadlines and working independently.
- Assist with ad-hoc tax related projects as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Math or a related field.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
- ERP experience required; SAP experience strongly preferred.
- Experience working with Avalara or a similar tax engine preferred.
- Exposure to multi-state sales and use tax compliance preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Mandarin language skills are preferred but not required.
- Full-time contractor, based in Irvine, CA.
- Hybrid work environment (minimum of three days per week in office).
- Competitive salary based on experience.
