Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on heavy machinery including excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractors, and other farm or industrial equipment.
- Utilize OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) schematics and technical manuals to troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical issues.
- Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, brake repairs, transmission servicing, hydraulic system repairs, suspension adjustments, and tire service.
- Fabricate parts or components as needed using welding, soldering, hand tools, power tools, and fabrication techniques to ensure equipment longevity.
- Diagnose electrical systems including wiring harnesses, sensors, switches, and control modules; repair or replace faulty components to restore functionality.
- Operate heavy equipment safely during testing procedures following all safety protocols related to air brakes, HVAC systems, alignment procedures, and heavy lifting.
- Maintain detailed service records of all repairs performed in compliance with safety standards and OEM specifications.
Requirements
- Proven mechanic experience with heavy equipment repair in dealership or industrial settings; familiarity with Caterpillar or similar OEM brands is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of hydraulics, transmissions, air brake systems, electrical diagnostics, suspension systems, and diesel engine repair.
- Ability to read schematics and technical manuals accurately to troubleshoot complex mechanical issues efficiently.
- Skilled in fabrication techniques including welding and soldering; experience with assembly and disassembly of heavy machinery components.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and vehicle maintenance procedures.
- Experience working with farm machinery, industrial equipment, excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractor-trailers or similar vehicles is preferred.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly with clients and team members about repair needs and solutions.
- Physical ability to perform heavy lifting safely and operate heavy equipment during testing phases; willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
