The Vice President of IT will lead all strategy and oversight of day-to-day operations for all business systems, application, IT Operations/Cybersecurity and DevOps across the enterprise (4 primary business segments supported by 1600 employees, and 30 locations across USA and Canada). Direct responsibility will include managing a team of 12 to 18 employees (4-5 direct reports). Position reports directly to the CTO and will manage a budget of approx. ~$8M (operations payroll). CapEx for next 2-3 years is $10-15M supporting Technology Transformation. This key new hire/role will advance strategic roadmaps supporting iterative upgrades to transform legacy systems (including homegrown applications) and processes, operational and cybersecurity practices, establish path to improving technical / systems architecture across key applications, align and prioritize IT roadmap to improving key business capabilities, establish and evolve key operational practices (SDLC, DevOps, and program management), and finally, work strategically and iteratively towards reducing and remediating technical debt while providing forward-thinking leadership to the business. The IT leader will utilize a breadth of experience maturing legacy environments for mid-sized market leaders. The current tech environment includes a hybrid infrastructure mix (on-prem / cloud), legacy in-house systems, Salesforce, SYSPRO, NetSuite, and SAP.

  • Lead and grow an IT organization and oversee relationships with key IT and non-IT (i.e., customer supply chain and technology organizations) vendors and third parties in order to support continued growth.
  • Plan and direct the strategic goals and initiatives of SSS information technology organization in alignment with company objectives.
  • Cultivate effective business relationships with key stakeholders from across the business.
  • Innovate and develop cybersecurity strategies for the IT environment, including policies, procedures, and governance programs for the corporate environment. Support client relationships and business development through security audit requests related analyses.
  • Articulate and validate the organization's obligations against relevant customer, management, security, and compliance frameworks.
  • Maintain organizational effectiveness and efficiency by defining, delivering, and supporting strategic plans for implementing IT solutions across a multi-site organization, including selection and implementation or upgrading of existing enterprise applications.
  • Day to day operational management of the IT organization to include infrastructure, cybersecurity, and enterprise applications.
  • Plan and execute major implementations and modifications to organizational systems and IT processes; this will include the selection and management of MSPs and other 3rd party vendors.
  • Revise SDLC, DevOps, enterprise architecture practices to assure best practices and scalability.
  • Drive decision making through the use of data and analytics to implement a strategy to fully utilize existing information to create the maximum impact for the business and customers.
  • Understand organizational business goals (ex. Optimize margins, reduce lead times, improve EBITDA, improve business intelligence reporting), IT strategies, and IT industry trends to develop comprehensive technology strategies and next generation roadmaps.
  • Support acquisition diligence and integration activities to support growth and or consolidation
  • Manage IT products, platforms, and back-office environments including web portals, SaaS applications and cyber security functions.
  • Lead IT organization in strategic and operational planning related to the corporate IT environment, including fostering innovation, organizing the allocation of resources, planning support structures, and incorporating IT best-practices.
  • Foster a service-oriented culture with emphasis on empowering the business and its employees to do their jobs efficiently while enhancing collaboration across the enterprise.
  • Manage IT spend by forecasting requirements, preparing an annual budget, analyzing variances, identifying inefficiencies (process and pricing) and initiating corrective actions.
  • Develop capabilities of direct reports and recruit additional talent as needed to support the IT function.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to identify needs and evaluate alternative business solutions and strategies.
  • Influence departmental culture and renew sense of urgency and accountability.
  • Collaborate with VP of Data Analytics to establish short/long
  • Bachelor's Degree required. Preferably focused on Technology, Comp Sci or Engineering discipline.
  • 10 years of department- level IT leadership (Business Systems, DevOps and infrastructure)
  • Depth in maturing IT Security, Governance, and standardization.
  • Track record in achieving KPIs and articulating/reporting the department's ROI.
  • Strong program management and communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders and culture.
  • Demonstrate a confident, change-agent, hands-on, player/coach, action-oriented leadership style.
  • Ability to work on-site 4-5 days/wk and travel to other facilities as necessary - travel 25% and up to 50% during key programs and or M&A activity
