What are the responsibilities and job description for the Material Handler - Weekend position at Sunbelt-Solomon Services?
This is positions is a Material Handler for our Winding Shop. The hours are Friday through Sunday 5:00 AM - 5:30 PM with a guaranteed 40-hour work week.
- Bring materials from warehouse to winding shop.
- Put materials back in warehouse.
- In the event the lead is gone for the day, fill in as back-up lead.
- Stage winding supplies to correct location.
- Assist winders in setting up machines.
- Moving materials within the shop to stage for machine setup.
- Collect and sorts complex material.
- Utilize radio to make communication with winding shop.
- Follow work orders and update inventory to present to Winding Supervisor.
- Weigh wire prior to returning to inventory.
- Strip wire prior to pressing.
- Move coils to stacking department.
- Stripping of all aluminum wire before sending to press/oven
- Assist paper cutter/foil slitter/buss bar as needed
- HS Diploma/GED preferred.
- 1 year of experience in material handling equipment (forklift, crane, etc.) preferred.
- WMS (Warehouse Management System) experience preferred.
- OSHA10 certification preferred
- A proven track record in safety excellence is required.
- Adheres to all safety and environmental compliance regulations set by the organization. Notify management immediately of any safety concerns, hazardous conditions, or injuries.
- Ability to read and interpret work orders.
- Meet department and production goals set by supervisor.
- Ensure product quality meets company and client expectations.
- Possess a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, problem-solving abilities, cooperative attitude, strong attention to detail and can work in a team environment.
- Adheres to the company’s employee handbook policies and embodies the organization’s core values.
- Ability to learn other department job functions and fill in as needed.
- Complete company compliance and safety training when required.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule and work under pressure in a fast-paced work environment.
- Physical requirements for this role include, but are not limited to the following:
- Lift 50lbs floor to waist and waist to shoulder multiple times
- Standing and walking for long durations
- Bending, squatting, and kneeling multiple times for long durations
- The ability to climb up and down a ladder multiple times
- Balance and stand on a ladder with three points of contact for extended periods of time
- Comfortable working in the heat and cold due to manufacturing facilities not being climate controlled
