What are the responsibilities and job description for the Rock Climbing Youth Team Coach position at Sun Country Sports Center?
Sun Country is seeking an experienced climber to be part of our team at Sun Country Rocks! This position includes coaching our USA Climbing competitive youth team, route setting, and overseeing open-climb shifts in the evenings. The weekly schedule for this opening is:
- Mondays 4:30 – 6:30 PM ( 6:30 – 8:30 Open Climb if interested)
- Wednesdays 4:30 – 6:30 PM ( 6:30 – 8:30 Open Climb if interested)
- Sunday 12:00 PM – 8:00 PM (bi-weekly route setting – flexible)

Climbing experience, an outgoing personality, strong focus on safety, and ability to multitask in a dynamic environment are required. Duties include providing enthusiastic customer service, teaching safety lessons and monitoring the safety of a few dozen climbers, all simultaneously. Qualified applicants should have 1 years’ experience in recreational climbing and a strong understanding of climbing technique, terminology, and safety.
Ability to become a USA Climbing Level 2 certified coach within 90 days is required.
As the program includes both adult recreational climbing and coaching a competitive youth team, experience working with children is preferred.
Position is part time, and applicants must be available for the schedule outlined above. We ask for a one-year minimum commitment. Additional hours may be available in other departments for applicants with related skills.
Compensation: $15.00 – $19.00 per hour depending on education and related experience.
