POSITION PURPOSE:
The Assistant Branch Manager (ABM) will be responsible for supporting the direction and administration of Branch operations, demonstrating attributes of “servant leadership” in developing the team. The ABM leads the education of the team in sales and membership development and enrichment of their CU relationship. Oversees and ensures compliance with NCUA, BSA and SUN’s policies and procedures. Oversees the delivery of a full range of products and services to members and prospective members delivered with extraordinary member service in alignment with our vision! The ABM works to support the members and their team in all aspects of the credit union. The ABM acts in the absence of Branch Manager to resolve member issues in accordance with SUN’s policies. The ABM also collaborates with the Branch Manager in supervising, coaching, and developing the staff and providing appropriate disciplinary procedures. The ABM is willing to perform various tasks and functions in support of our member experience.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
- Leads by example, demonstrates “member obsession” in all encounters be it CU members or team members!
- Ensures operations are conducted in accordance with established Credit Union policies, legal and regulatory requirements, and audit standards. Provides suggestions to continually improve processes that result in efficiency and improve member service.
- Assists with opening and closing the building in accordance with set hours. Tests security equipment as assigned. Provides awareness of any security issues.
- Ensures that the Branch balances all transactions at the close of each day. Proofs Tellers, runs related reports, and balances the vault at the end of each day. Helps and supports Tellers. Completes month end certification of all cash items and negotiable instruments.
- Assists with Service Representative functions. Performs duties related to loan processing, certificates of deposit, and IRAs. Handles direct deposit functions and safe deposit boxes. Assists in opening new member accounts and with loan closings and disbursements.
- Promotes Branch business development and seeks to broaden member base. Actively deepens relationships with members and increase “wallet share” and retention.
- Completes required reports and records and ensures that Branch functions are properly documented.
- Assists with implementing changes to established policy and procedures within the Branch.
- Ensures compliance with BSA “Bank Secrecy Act” Rules & Regulations.
- Ensures proper procedure is followed regarding CTR processing.
- Reviews and shares with applicable branch personnel CTR Exception Report.
- Reports any unusual activity to the BSA Compliance Officer to determine if a Suspicious Activity Report (SAR) will be required.
- Provides supervision for Tellers and Service Representatives.
- Assists with orientation of new employees and staff training sessions. Supports the team in their development through training, coaching, and encouraging while holding staff accountable to CU vision and strategies. Ensures the team has the tools needed to provide extraordinary member service.
- Assists with determining appropriate staffing levels and scheduling employees which might require coverage in other branches as needed.
- Is an advocate for the people in the communities demonstrated by attendance at community events before and after normal work hours in support of new member growth and business development.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Certification: High school graduate or equivalent required. College degree preferred.
Required Knowledge: Thorough knowledge of Credit Union products, services, and policies.
Understanding of Teller/Member Service Representative functions.
Knowledge of Loan Officer processes and responsibilities.
Experience Required: Minimum of three years of progressively responsible credit union or financial industry experience in operations in a supervisory role.
